Larvae of Perelleschus species feed and develop into the red pulp of the infrutescences of Carludovica species.
Thereafter they pupate and emerge as adults when the fruits ripen and the berries become exposed.
Into Acalyptini Thomson, the tribe Phyllotrogina contains species with close relationships with palms (Arecaceae), arums (Araceae) and cyclanths (Cyclanthaceae).
These species differs mainly in the shape of the female and male genitalias. Those are the spermathecas of the two new species from Colombia.
